Following on their father and teacher's footsteps, Alfredo Roque Gameiros's children (and sons-in-law) produced an impressive body of work. The master's influence is noticeable both in the choice of medium — watercolor — and in the preference for a "naturalist" perspective. The present selection provides a good opportunity to contrast approximations and styles by various family members. Helena is probably the daughter who followed on the patriarch's steps the closest. Raquel developed her peculiar style. Manuel, Màmía and Ruy, having shared the taste and ability for watercolor painting, later became interested in other art forms (cf This and That). Sons-in-law José e Jaime, friends and colleagues at Portugal's Fine Arts Society, also joined in the watercolor "gang," each with their own peculiar style.
